Sapa’s neighborhood

Ham Rong Mountain
From the top of Ham Rong Mountain, you can get a panoramic view of Sapa Vietnam, Muong Hoa valley, Ta Phin hidden in smog. Traveling to Ham Rong, tourists will feel like lost in the fairy garden with surrounding clouds and brightful flowers.

Sapa stone church
apa stone church, built in 1895, is regarded as the most typical symbol of French architecture left in the town. The church has been embellished and preserved and become a must-see spot in this smoggy town.

Cat Cat village
As one of the oldest villages of Mong ethnic, the village still preserves many traditional handicraft jobs such as cotton and flax planting, or weaving. The village has been built into Cat Cat tourism site known as one of Sapa attractions now.



Location: 2 km from the Center of Sapa Vietnam.

Ta Phin village
The village is famous for its beautiful natural landscape, traditional customs of Red Dao ethnic people with brocade manufacturing. In Ta Phin, you can visit Ta Phin Cave nearby. In the cave, there are many fascinating fairy-dance-shape, fairy-sitting stalactites and sparkling forest.




Ta Van
Following the 4D National Highway toward the Southeast about 8 km from Sapa town, you will arrive in Ta Van Giay village.



Tourists here will have chance to explore the traditional lifestyle of Giay ethnic group. The road to Ta Van Giay village is small and narrow. On the two sides of the road, there are terraced fields dotted with green paddy and corn fields.

Sin Chai
The Sin Chai village belongs to San Sa Ho commune, just over 4km of walk from Sapa town center. As one of the spots that is not turned into “tourism site” on Sapa map Vietnam, the village still retains its original wild features.



The village is the habitat of about 1400 Mong ethnic people. In addition to cultivate upland rice and maize, Sin Chai residents also choose slightly sloped ridges to grow cardamom, a significant source of income in this ancient valley.

Muong Hoa Valley – Sapa ancient stone field
Among must-see Sapa tourist attractions, you should set foot in there. The special thing in this valley is that the ancient stone field has many stones with different shapes intermixed with grasses, trees and terraced rice fields of ethnic minorities.
There are hundreds of carved sandstones with strange symbols yet still unknown their origin and meaning. Today, this ancient site is named as a national monument, becoming the unique heritage of the ancient Vietnamese.
In Muong Hoa Valley, there is also a beautiful stream stretching about 15 km from Lao Chai, Ta Van, Hau Thao Village to Ho Village.

Location: Hau Thao Commune, 8 km from Sapa town to the Southeast. From Sapa town, crossing a mountain pass and going along the high mountain range, you will arrive in Muong Hoa valley.
Tien cave
Traveling upstream the Chay river about 6 km from the center of Bao Nhai commune (Bac Ha district), you will arrive in the mysterious ancient citadel Trung Do.


Chay river here is kind of deep yet gentle with steep wall banks. The fairy cave here can be seen as a miniature of Ha Long Bay. The cave is famous for the fairy tale of Ba Co shrine in Bao Nhai commune.
Many tourists come here for sightseeing, or taking a bath in the Tien stream in the morning, or praying for beauty, health and wealth.
Location: 6km from centre of Bao Nhai commune.

Fansipan – The roof of Indochina
Fansipan with the height of 3.143 m is the highest mountain of the Indochinese Peninsula and among must-visit Sapa attractions. The mountain belongs to Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

You can choose to join the tour by tourism agencies or on your own with the navigation of local ethnics of Mong, Dao. On the way up the mountain, tourists will have chance to discover the flora and fauna as well as natural attractions.

There are many Hoang Lien trees – a precious medicinal herb, precious woods, wild animals like grouse, bears, monkeys, antelopes, birds, etc.
Or you can also travel by cable cars. Fansipan cable cars first went into operation in 2016, helping tens of thousands of tourists arriving Fansipan to admire, explore and conquer the highest roof of Indochina.

The cable cars are also won two Guinness certifications as: three-wire cable car station with the world’s longest distance between two stations of 1410m and with the world’s longest journey of 6292.5m. Time to arrive in Fansipan is now shortened from two days to just 15 minutes.

Silver waterfall – Love waterfall
Traveling on the road to Lai Chau to the west about 11 km from Sapa town, you will arrive in the Silver Waterfall. Water in the waterfall flows down from a height of over 100 meters into the stream under the valley of O Quy Ho, creating impressive sounds of mountainous forests.
However, during the dry season, you should consider whether or not to visit the Silver waterfall because the waterfall has not too much water at this time.


Just 3 km further away from the Silver waterfall, you will arrive in the Heaven Gate to watch the Lai Chau valley and the majestic Fansipan peak.
If you enjoy walking, you can stop at Tram Ton, crossing into the Hoang Lien National Park about more than 1 km to explore the Love waterfalls. The spot can be seen as one of Sapa places of interest.

Location: 12km from Sapa town to the west, on the road to Lai Chau province.

Heaven gate
Road to the heaven gate runs zigzag in the middle of mountain range. The road is named Tram Ton, weaving the majestic Hoang Lien Son range.

The heaven gate is named for the peak of this mountain pass. Standing in the Sapa heaven gate, your eyes can cover whole valley below with the green rice fields, or silver waterfalls from distance.
Also in this heaven gate, you can feel the glory of Fansipan and deep chasms.
Location: 18km from Sapa town to the North.

Coc San
Coc San is a natural complex of waterfalls and caves with different sizes. From the 4D national road, there is a small dirt road about 1km long leading to Coc San.

Coc San Road runs zigzag, dark and is filled by the stones. Coc San attracts tourists with its untouched nature. The special thing here is under almost every waterfall, behind the water there is a cave.
Coc San landscape is harmonious and spacious. People arriving here all feel the mystical magic from the waterfall, the caves and stones.
Location: Coc San Commune, Bat Xat district, 7km from Lao Cai city.

Bac Ha market
Bac Ha is the largest market in the mountainous border of Vietnam. The market takes place on every Sunday, attracted many people.

This is the place for minority ethnic people from surrouding areas to exchange, purchase and sale of goods. The booths display various essential items such as clothing, shovels or home stuffs.
Location: Center of Bac Ha town, 60km from Lao Cai city.
